The Department was renamed as Centre for radiobiology and Biological Dosimetry and was divided into 3 laboratories: Laboratory of Cellular Radiobiology, Laboratory of Cytogenetics and Genotoxicology and Laboratory of Biological Dosimetry. Foundation of The Accredited Cytogenetic Biodosimetry Laboratory in 2015.

Due to opposition at the Institute during the period of marshal law, General Jaruzelski decided for the Institute of Nuclear Research to be divided into 3 separate institutes, one of them becoming The Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology. As a repressive measure, Professor Kopeć was dismissed from her position as Head of the Department, and 6 research workers were fired. Many other left, did not return from abroad, or emigrated.

The Department was renamed as The Department of Radiobiology and Health Protection and was divided into 5 laboratories: Laboratory of Radiation Biochemistry, Laboratory of Radiation Pathophysiology, Laboratory of Cellular Radiobiology, Laboratory of Biological Dosimetry, Laboratory of Radionuclide Metabolism.
